Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 501628
[RFE] Default Swap partition size change review request.
Last modified: 2009-05-20 23:32:22 EDT
Description of problem:
Installing RHEL 4.8 on the z9 LPAR. The default partition for swap is 4GB. Leaving ~3GB for a RHEL installation. For most customers this is not enough to create a useful install.
Using the same hardware configuration, although doing a 31 bit install, the swap is a more resonable 1984MB
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
This is the 5.3 "version" of this bug for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Customer has lodged an issue with support. As changing the default swap size would mean changing the predictability and behaviour of a system this may cause possible performance and stability regressions for customers.
So I ask should/can this be changed before EL6 ?
How much memory is in the machine in question? Not sure what RHEL4.8 has to do with this problem, either.
I was interrupted many times during this bugzilla, now I realise it makes no sense. Going to close and re-open with some more sanity.
