We should look at applying the upstream patch, or possibly some less invasive patch.
This is a somewhat messy issue. ;(
I will whip up a scratch build of the patch in the upstream report and see how well it works and what we want to do here. Sorry for the delay.

Most likely because in the US no one really need to care about UTF-8, but here in Europe it's a problem. I had complainants in #fedora-de and fedoraforum.de.
I have built exo-0.3.101-4 with the Ubuntu patch.
Works fine for me and at least one other person.
exo-0.3.101-4.fc11 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 11.
exo-0.3.101-4.fc11 has been pushed to the Fedora 11 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
