Already fixed in bug 500015 for Rawhide, this is a F11 clone.

Comment 2 Steve 2009-07-14 21:46:09 UTC
But the actual version is xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-14.fc11.i586 and not xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-18.fc11.i586.

This can't be a clone because it's still not fixed!

I made a fresh install of rawhide yesterday, and the card is working with xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-21.fc12.i686.rpm. And after that, i made a fresh install of Fedora-11 and the card is not working with xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-14.fc11.i586. So what can be the problem?

Yeah, I tested it with fc12(rawhide) and xf86-video-ati-6.12.4, it's ok.
For fc11 and xf86-video-ati-6.12.4, it fails.

even when successfully run xserver on fc12, it's fails open drm and then disable dri

Therefore, just type Option "DRI" "off" in config file(xorg.conf) will make this issue workaround on fc11

This issue will only occur on RV670. on rawhide, xorg.0.log shows that drm open fails and then disable dri, which will force driver using shadow framebuffer. therefore, x server runs successfully

Is there really some problems in drm for supporting rv670, or other reasons?

Can you try with a more up to date fedora 12, especialy newer kernel we pushed a bunch of fixes for R600/R700 hw.

Comment 8 chongzhangscu 2009-10-16 06:12:46 UTC
Thanks Glisse

I try this issue with kernel 2.6.32.rc3, it's OK now

Comment 9 Jérôme Glisse 2009-10-16 11:20:42 UTC
So closing this bug, reopen if you experience similar issue with lastest fedora 12.

Comment 10 Steve 2009-10-16 12:26:37 UTC
Isn't it a bug of Fedora 11?

Comment 11 Jérôme Glisse 2009-10-16 12:43:06 UTC
The issue was on fedora 11 it's now fixed in fedora 12 (fix ain't easy to backport).
