Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 511161
yum groupinstall KVM shouldn't pull in gnome-applet-vm (and xen)
Last modified: 2009-09-02 08:02:42 EDT
gnome-applet-vm has likely seen very little testing wrt to KVM integration (as can be evidenced by bug 510654 ), as well as testing with the rebased libvirt version, so it should be removed from the KVM comps group to avoid unneeded bug reports.
This brought the installation problem on 5.4 Beta. If gnome-applet-vm is removed from the KVM comps, this will be resolved. Without this fix in comps, kernel-xen will be installed as the default kernel when the "Virtualization" (meaning Xen) is NOT selected and the "KVM" is selected during the package selection of anaconda. Because "KVM" comps group includes gnome-applet-vm package by default, gnome-applet-vm package depends on xen, and xen package depends on kernel-xen.
Fixed in comps cvs.
gnome-applet-vm is not part of @kvm group anymore. Verified in snapshot 4
