Created attachment 354148 [details]
tar.gz of the .fwbackups directory in the user account failing to backup

Description of problem:
When I try to perform a one time backup to an external usb hard drive with a mounted ext3 filesystem, the backup always fails with the error...

Error initializing.
An error occurred initializing the backup operation: 'OldToKeep'

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
fwbackups-1.43.3-0.3.rc2.fc10.noarch

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attach a usb hard drive which has been formatted in gparted to have a ext3 partition and with a directory owned by the user with write permissions on it.
2. Execute 'fwbackups' from the gnome terminal window.
3. Click on the 'One-Time Backup' icon in the fwbackups window's tool bar.
4. Click on the 'Add a Folder' button and select a directory in the local user account to backup and click the Next button.
5. Click the 'Browse' and select the directory on the external firewire drive (eg. /media/fourier_backup/howarth_backups). It should show the green led next the the Folder item indicating that write permission was found. Click the Next button.
6) Accept the defaults of 'include subfolders'. 'backup hidden files', 'print installed packages to a text file' and backup type as archive. Click the 'Start Backup' button.

Actual results:
A status alert appears with "Status Starting a one-time backup operation' followed by an Information dialog with the error message "Error initializing An error occurred initializing the backup operation: 'OldToKeep'"

Expected results:
I expected the backup to occur,
