Description of problem: For recent "rawhide", the "radeon" driver leads to a lock up of X when a window is dragged, and the active window manager is metacity. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-19.fc12.x86_64 How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start GNOME session 2. Open new GNOME terminal. 3. Click title bar in order to move the window. Actual results: X aborts, and a new instance of GDM is launched. Expected results: Window can be moved around. Additional info: - Changing the video driver to "vesa" allows to restore a working GNOME desktop. - Windows can be moved successfully after enabling desktop effects, too. - Installed packages include: * kernel-2.6.31-0.81.rc3.git4.fc12.x86_64 * metacity-2.27.0-2.fc12.x86_64 * xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-19.fc12.x86_64 * xorg-x11-server-*-1.6.99-9.20090706.fc12.x86_64

- EXA makes X crash when a window is moved - XAA works correctly (obtained with kernel 2.6.29.6-213.fc11 since "rawhide" kernels do not support option "nomodeset" currently, see bug 510673)
Please check if this is a dup of bug 512551, resolved in Rawhide. Symptoms look the same to me.
(In reply to comment #5) Due to bug 511930, I am currently unable to verify proper function for the more recent X packages.
Issue is gone even for the X packages reported above after installing the latest updates from the development tree.
