X log with i865G

This also happens on i865G.

Comment 3 Andy Burns 2009-09-17 20:34:09 UTC
pretty much the same here on 945GM

When compiz enabled, when the mouse is moved the screen flickers (at about 25Hz) between a black buffer and the proper buffer that should be drawn, once the mouse stops it's pot luck whether it ends up on the black buffer or the proper one.

Comment 4 Adam Williamson 2009-09-18 04:10:20 UTC
does this happen with any other 3D apps, perhaps? or just compiz?

is there anything useful in dmesg or ~/.xsession-errors ?

Comment 8 Ondrej Zary 2009-09-18 08:21:58 UTC
This is from Eee PC 701 (i915GM) which has the same problem, using desktop-i386-20090915.15.iso.

glxgears alone works fine. When compiz is enabled, this line appears in ~/.xsession-errors:

compiz (video) - Warn: No 8 bit GLX pixmap format, disabling YV12 image format

Sometimes compiz crashes immediately after enabling with this in dmesg:
compiz[1869]: segfault at 7818a0 ip 007818a0 sp bfd729c0 error 4 in libxcb-aux.so.0.0.0[824000+2000]

When compiz runs, it crashes after disabling. It's not visible to user, only this line appears in dmesg:
compiz[1827]: segfault at 5e98a0 ip 005e98a0 sp bf8c4300 error 4 in libXext.so.6.4.0[653000+10000]
or
compiz[1889]: segfault at 53a8a0 ip 0053a8a0 sp bf87f9c0 error 4 in libSM.so.6.0.0[5c0000+7000]
or
compiz[1915]: segfault at 9f58a0 ip 009f58a0 sp bfbdc1a0 error 4 in libXrender.so.1.3.0[a34000+8000]
or
compiz[1938]: segfault at 2f08a0 ip 002f08a0 sp bfa0b010 error 4

(seems like random error generator :)

Rawhide updates from 2009-09-19 fix this for me.

Comment 10 Adam Williamson 2009-09-18 18:45:47 UTC
that's clever, it's not 2009-09-19 yet =)

for those who can't install Rawhide, nightly live CDs are available here:

http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/desktop/

so maybe try with the one from today or tomorrow or sunday and see if it works for you.

Updates to mesa on 19/09/2009 fixes it for me as well.

Comment 12 Ondrej Zary 2009-09-19 10:53:20 UTC
desktop-i386-20090917.16.iso does not fix this, maybe the next one will.

Comment 13 Adam Williamson 2009-09-21 15:39:04 UTC
there's a 20090920 image up now, can you try that?

It works fine with desktop-i386-20090927.16.iso on Eee PC 701 (i915GM).
