Description Mark H Johnson 2001-08-23 20:51:26 UTC
Description of Problem:
The search capability for help in KDE does not find any items unless
the index is generated. No prompting is provided to the user - it just
appears to ignore your action.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How Reproducible:
Install KDE on the system.
Select help from the KDE menu.
Select the search tab.
Enter any phrase & "search"
No visual response to the action.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. see above
2.
3.

Actual Results:
No visual response to the search command.

Expected Results:
One or more of the following:
 - display message - no index found, please use 'update index'
 - prompt user to index the material the first time
 - automatically index whenever search is selected and the data is "stale"

Additional Information:
Had some user complaints on this one. We are looking into a work around
where we do this as part of the kick start we use and then keep it up
to date with a weekly (daily?) rc file.

Comment 1 Glen Foster 2001-08-24 15:54:38 UTC
We (Red Hat) should try to fix this before next release.

Comment 2 Bernhard Rosenkraenzer 2001-08-27 08:34:12 UTC
Can't reproduce this in the current version, assuming fixed
