Steps to Reproduce: 1. yum install kdelibs 2. /usr/bin/update-mime-database /usr/share/mime 3. yum remove kdelibs 4. /usr/bin/update-mime-database /usr/share/mime Actual results: with kdelibs installed, update-mime-database complains: # /usr/bin/update-mime-database /usr/share/mime Unknown media type in type 'all/all' Unknown media type in type 'all/allfiles' Unknown media type in type 'uri/mms' Unknown media type in type 'uri/mmst' Unknown media type in type 'uri/mmsu' Unknown media type in type 'uri/pnm' Unknown media type in type 'uri/rtspt' Unknown media type in type 'uri/rtspu' Unknown media type in type 'fonts/package' Unknown media type in type 'interface/x-winamp-skin' After removing kdelibs, update-mime-database is silent. Expected results: Fedora to ship proper mime-data.
Looks like shared-mime-info may be a bit overly strict here, esp for those containing x-* The others, I'll ping upstream kde about.
That's not new, that same code has been there since the inception of shared-mime-info.
