Description Bill Case 2009-10-01 15:52:54 UTC
Description of problem:
I want to use the gdu-notification-daemon at startup.
But, I keep getting the same warning in my Notification Area for a disk problem that I would like the gdu to ignore.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Every time I login.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Include Disk Notification in my Start Up Applications Preferences.
I currently have it unselected because it is annoying.

2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:
As root I would like to tell gdu *not* to notify me of this one particular warning!

Would like some yelp or man documentation for gdu-notification-daemon or gdu or gnome-disk-utility or something.

Additional info:

I have two disks; one is an old Maxtor that has been noted as failing in exactly the same way for a couple of years now. I don't care if it eventually fails. It will be a good reason to buy a new disk. I don't care if I lose the data -- it contains old, well backed up data.

It would be nice to be notified -- once -- if it gets worse, but then I would turn that warning off too.

Presently, at every login I get the following warning:

41 GB ATA Maxtor 5T040H4

Assesssment:	Passed
One or more attributes exceeding threshold

ID: 10
Attribute:	Spinup Retry Count
Current:	233
Worst: 205
Value: 11
Status: Failing
Updates:	Online

I would like to have a check box (maybe in the Report Dialogue) that essentialy says: "Don't warn me about this particular problem again -- now get out of my notification area".

See also bug #498115. (I commented there that it should be possible to get a warning only when something changes. I still have the same 1 reallocated sector that I did 4 months ago, and still check the number every day.)

This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Comment 4 Bug Zapper 2010-12-04 07:35:46 UTC
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
