Description Chris Weyl 2009-10-13 04:36:12 UTC
I'd like to be able to install Fedora on my ThinkPad, hit the pre-eject button, and watch lights blink, DASD whirr, and finally, a very satisfying little popup informing me that it's now ok for me to eject.

There are some useful scripts/rules out at thinkwiki:

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_hotswap_UltraBay_devices
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Fedora_11_on_a_ThinkPad_T60#Ultrabay

I can confirm the procedure described (the subset in the latter link at least) works on my T61 (6459-CTO).

This would make me very happy, and I don't think I'm presuming too much to say many other ThinkPad users happy as well. If not here, then point me in towards the correct package / way to get this enabled. Please?

Thanks :)

bundle the rules in the package, which provide the tools

Comment 2 Chris Weyl 2009-10-13 15:00:24 UTC
Sorry, which package?

Comment 3 Harald Hoyer 2009-10-13 15:13:15 UTC
The one which will provide ultrabay_eject, ultrabay_insert :)

If you want it in the standard udev package, then submit your request to the udev development mailing list linux-hotplug.org, but I would suggest to create an extra rpm package for that.
