Bastien can you have a look at this back trace to see if there's anything useful. Cheers Peter

Comment 3 Bastien Nocera 2009-11-09 15:59:01 UTC
nm-netbook doesn't handle D-Bus not being up when starting:
    bus = init_dbus ();
    /* FIXME: Do something nicer here */
    g_assert (bus);

There should be warnings before that though. What does it say in your ~/.xsession-errors?

Comment 4 nts 2009-11-09 21:01:59 UTC
this is the log from ~/.xsession-errors :

gnome-session[1543]: WARNING: Could not parse desktop file /etc/xdg/autostart/network-manager-netbook.desktop: Key file does not have key 'Name'
gnome-session[1543]: WARNING: could not read /etc/xdg/autostart/network-manager-netbook.desktop

Peter, I guess this only happens on the Moblin live CD, right?

You'd need to either fix network-manager-netbook to not require D-Bus (and NetworkManager) being already started, or make sure they are started before the desktop is up.

The warnings posted above don't show which D-Bus error is being hit, but I gather the above is the right fix for the problem.
