Feature requests like this are much better tracked upstream. As you noticed, there is already an upstream request for this.
Which is already taking 8 years and essential enough for some pressure by Redhat.
Maybe Redhat can propose asmall patch and finally get this work done for this VERY BASIC gui functionality.
What is Redhat willing to do to fix this very basic and relatively simple gui issue? It has been going on for way too long.

It has been going on for way too long. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47948#c14 We're watching upstream bugzillas, no need to discuss it here. Once it's implemented, I'd be happy to backport it in Fedora.
Erhm.. I didn't mean the (passively) watching upstream, I meant some active approach since the upstream bug has been sooo old and appears to have no priority because of it's lack of glamour factor. It is a very necessary basic feature, though. So please reconsider what you can do. Maybe a GSOC idea?
Closing this bug will not help the issue in any way. Or did you imply that RH has no leverage?
We are not obliged to 'help the issue' in any way. If you care deeply about this, engage upstream to get this implemented.
Who mentions obligations? If you don't want to improve products you ship not much will happen in certain cases like this one.
