Description Anton 2009-12-06 12:04:56 EST
Description of problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
NetworkManager-0.7.996-7.git20091113.fc12.i686 (from updates-testing)
ModemManager-0.2-4.20091105.fc12.i686 (also from updates-testing)

How reproducible:
Using 3G modem ZTE AC8710 (id: 19d2:ffff)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Plug in the modem (may require manually loading usbserial module with corresponding vendor and device id)
2. NM doesn't recognize interface ttyUSB0 as a modem

Then I added info about this device in /lib/udev/rules.d/77-mm-zte-port-types.rules :

ATTRS{idProduct}=="ffff", ENV{.MM_USBIFNUM}=="00", ENV{ID_MM_ZTE_PORT_TYPE_MODEM}="1"

After that it started to detect device itself, but that's not enough:
