Description Jared MORGAN 2010-01-25 05:58:52 UTC
Description of problem:

When setting up a project plan with similar task names (as phases), the predecessor list doesn't clearly distinguish what task is which.

Currently, it lists each dependency in the order it appears in the project plan.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

0.14.4

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create two parent tasks with different names.
2. Create a subtask for each parent task, with the same name.
3. Create other subtasks for each parent task so you can set dependencies.
4. Open the properties of one of the child tasks.
5. Click the Dependencies tab.
6. Try to set a dependency, selecting the correct entry without guessing.

Actual results:

The list opens and displays all entries in the order they appear in the project names. Duplicate names are listed, but there is no way to clearly identify them unless you marry the list with the order of the project plan.

Expected results:

The list of dependencies is displayed, and beside it, some type of parent task reference (task name?) is shown for clarification.

Additional info:

As a work-around, I went back and renamed all my tasks with an initialism in the task title. That way when you opened the predecessors list, the acronym helped you sort out what task related to each parent.

Could you add the WBS number in the drop-down, in front of the task name?

Comment 2 Caolan McNamara 2010-01-25 10:36:58 UTC
Updated upstream combobox/comboboxentry patch to add the WBS string to the front of the dropdown entries.

Will be in >= 14.4-16.f12
