Put yawp-widget on the desktop 2. Press 'configure' button 3. Add city and press 'find'-button Actual results: Plasma-Desktop crashes Expected results: Plasma-Desktop doesn't crash Additional info:
Thanks for the bug report. I informed yawp developers about the crash. Since I can't reproduce the bug, I recommend you to talk to the developers directly at http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/yaWP+%28Yet+Another+Weather+Plasmoid%29?action=content&content=94106 (scroll down to the Comments section) They may need more information from you such as which weather service you are using, what city you put into the box etc. I will follow up their response and fix the package accordingly. Thanks.
Hi, FYI: Got a response from udev: "When you update/change the version of kde than you have to recompile yawp. Yawp is a shared library that depends strongly on kde-functions! But each version is different. This isn't a yawp specific problem... I don't understand, why people can not check previous pages in order to claim about something...on page 33, another user had the same problem..." Just recompile ... :-) This report can be closed, because yawp is behaving for now. Thanks, Martin Kho
But kde-plasma-yawp-0.3.2-2.fc12.x86_64 was already rebuilt against KDE 4.4.0! (In fact, this is the only difference between -1 and -2.) http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/kde-plasma-yawp/0.3.2/2.fc12/data/logs/x86_64/root.log See also Bug 549620.
But I don't understand this. The original post says that the bug was reported against: > * kde-plasma-yawp-0.3.2-2.fc12.x86_64 > * kdebase-workspace-4.4.0-7.fc12.x86_64 The above yawp (on which you had the problem) has already been recompiled against kde4.4. Martin, did you need to re-recompile?
Hi Kevin, No, I didn't need to. I only had to re-configure after the kde update from 4.3.5 to 4.4.0. The re-configure action crashed Plasma-desktop, only once. Now it's sitting fine on my desktop :-) Martin Kho
Hi Orcan, I was a little sleepy when I posted my previous comment, sorry :-) Looking at bug 549620, It seems there is something weird going on between yawn - all widgets? - and the plasma-desktop. Any idea what I can respond to udev? Thanks, Martin Kho
> Looking at bug 549620, It seems there is something weird going on between yawn Looks like you're still sleepy. ;-) > Any idea what I can respond to udev? Well, you can tell him that the package you're using was already rebuilt and that therefore that's not the problem.
Hi Kevin, Yes I'm afraid you're right :-) FYI: I added following comment: "I'm not sure if Orcan's conclusion [Orcan: "So I believe this bug report can be ignored"] is right. The version of yawn that crashed plasma-desktop was already re-compiled for kde 4.4.0, as Orcan said. So a re-compile isn't relevant in this case, is it?" Martin Kho

Hi, I did some debugging upstream, but this issue didn't show up. So this report can be closed, I suppose. Martin Kho
(In reply to comment #10) > Hi, > > I did some debugging upstream, but this issue didn't show up. So this report > can be closed, I suppose. OK, then. Closed.
