Start virt-manager, start creating a new VM from a real CD (without actually having a CD in the drive for now!). On the CD selection screen, insert the CD. Nautilus detects the new CD, but virt-manager does not. Cancel and restart the wizard, same thing. Cancel, restart virt-manager, restart wizard: now it works
I don't think F13 is polling CDROM media by default. You can work around this on F12 at least by doing: hal-disable-polling --device /dev/sr0 --enable-polling Anyways, fixed upstream virt-manager to not require 'media present' to use a CDROM: http://hg.fedorahosted.org/hg/virt-manager/rev/824996cec205
