Compare both the screen shots. Some print features "hand outs/notes/etc" is missing from the 3.1 print dialog, which is a major blocker for people using this a lot.

Indeed, the gtk print dialog doesn't have the capacity to set these. This didn't matter greatly before because the options dialog supported them, but it no longer does in 3.1.1, so the gtk print dialog isn't sufficient to gain access to all features available pre 3.1.1 The only practical option is to revert to the OOo print dialog after all, something I hadn't wanted to do because it looses the look and feel integration that existed earlier in the RHEL-5 cycle. Bug #476039 is the attempt to regain the gtk print dialog with support for the extra features. A workaround is to toggle tools->options->general->use native OpenOffice.org *file* dialog.
