RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

anaconda debug logs

Description of problem:
I downloaded RHEL6.0-20100603.1-Workstation-x86_64-DVD1.iso and burned it to a DVD. I'm trying to install from it and it's failed twice with the error:
               Error
Unable to read group information from repositories. This
is a problem with the generation of your install tree.
         [ Exit installer] [ Retry ]

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL 6.0 20100603.1 Workstation x86_64
anaconda 13.21.50

How reproducible:
every time (?)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. burn RHEL6.0-20100603.1-Workstation-x86_64-DVD1.iso to DVD
2. boot from DVD and start install

Actual results:
anaconda stops with above error when it tries to read packages from DVD

Expected results:
successful installation of RHEL 6.0

Comment 1 Jeff Bastian 2010-06-09 19:25:30 UTC
I installed RHEL 6.0 20100603.1 over http instead of from the DVD and that worked fine, so apparently it's only the repos on the DVD ISO that are corrupt.

(I had to use an updates.img from bug 602351 comment 8 to fix another bug with partitioning.)

updates against anaconda-13.21.50-1 for 602369

Please try this updates.img to see if it resolves your problem.

Comment 5 Jeff Bastian 2010-06-09 20:33:24 UTC
The updates.img from comment 2 fixed the problem! It's installing from the DVD now.

And thank you for merging it with the updates.img from bug 602351 comment 8; I went to merge them myself but I noticed it was already done.
