Actual results: Dialog comes up: There was an error while applying your choice This error shouldn't have happened. If you'd like to help us improve this program, please file a bug at bugzilla.redhat.com. Only option is to click OK and cannot procede. Expected results: Connection and registration on RHN. Additional info: Have successfully registered other systems on RHN, this is the only one that has given this issue so far. Nothing special about it, just another box with older hardware.
This looks a bit odd, I cannot think of any reason why would the registration fail at that point and with that error other than temporary RHN (server side) indisposition. Does $ telnet xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com 443 connect to the server from the machine in question without any problems?
This is what I get when I try that command: [root@saturn X11R6]# telnet xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com 443 Trying 209.132.183.44... Connected to xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com (209.132.183.44). Escape character is '^]'. ^ Connection closed by foreign host. [root@saturn X11R6]# I then try to run the rhn_register, even over ssh and I get this [root@saturn ~]# rhn_register There was an SSL error: (104, 'Connection reset by peer') A common cause of this error is the system time being incorrect. Verify that the time on this system is correct. [root@saturn ~]# The system does have the right time and is connected to our internal ntp server and the rhel ntp server.
