Description William Lovins 2010-07-27 15:38:04 UTC
Description of problem:
The command scriptreplay is excluded from the distribution. Excluding the command makes it more difficult to replay / reviewing sessions recorded by the script, especially when timing is enabled. The spec file (Version: 2.13 Release: 0.52 line 538) lists %{_bindir}/scriptreplay as a deprecated command. I cannot find any command that replaces it, nor are there any notes in the changelog that explain why this is excluded or what it was replaced with. Additionally, the man page for script lists scriptreplay as the correct command for replaying sessions recorded with script.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
util-linux-2.13-0.52.el5_4.1.src.rpm

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install util-linux
2. Record a session with script
3. ???

Actual results:
-bash: scriptreplay: command not found

Expected results:
Script replay would start replaying the session.

The scriptreplay command depends on perl. We don't want to install perl on all
RHEL machines.

The command has been rewritten to C in util-linux-ng 2.14 -- and it's available in RHEL6.
