Description Adrien Kunysz 2010-08-19 05:20:29 EDT
Description of problem:

In section 41.5.2.1 (bonding Module Directives) of the Deployment Guide at http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/Deployment_Guide/s2-modules-bonding.html
There is this line:

> After you have created a channel bonding interface file such as ifcfg-bond0 and inserted SLAVE=bond0 directives in the bonded interfaces following the instructions in Section 14.2.3, “Channel Bonding Interfaces”, you can then proceed to testing and determining the best parameters for your bonded interface.

Then when you look at the page it points to in section 14.2.3, you see the SLAVE= option is supposed to be just "yes", not an interface name (and as far as I can tell, it's optional).

Can you please double check and fix that sentence if appropriate?
Comment 1 Douglas Silas 2010-09-01 19:42:03 EDT
Right you are.

That sentence now reads:

"After you have created a channel bonding interface file such as ifcfg-bond0 and inserted SLAVE=yes and MASTER=bond0 directives in the bonded interfaces following the instructions in Section 4.2.2, “Channel Bonding Interfaces”, you can proceed to testing and determining the best parameters for your bonded interface."

Also, the directive for SLAVE= in "14.2.1. Ethernet Interfaces" has been fixed (to say "answer" instead of "bond-interface").

Thanks Adrien.

This fix will be in build Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux-Deployment_Guide-5-web-en-US-6-16.el5 or later; staging soon and moving to ON_QA.
