RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #626478 +++

Description of problem:
Need to make sure that we clearly indicate the following somewhere in the docs:

Only single site clusters are fully supported at this time. Clusters spread across multiple physical locations are not formally supported. For more details and to discuss multi-site clusters, please speak to your Red Hat sales or support representative.

Comment 4 Steven J. Levine 2011-05-18 21:36:50 UTC
I probably should have re-assigned this to me at some point, since I've been working on the Cluster Admin Guide.

The Cluster Administration Guide includes, as Section 2.1, a series of General Configuration Considerations along these lines.

http://documentation-stage.bne.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/96/html/Cluster_Administration/ch-before-config-CA.html#s1-clust-config-considerations-CA

So I can add Perry's note to that section under the heading "Single Site Clusters". http://documentation-stage.bne.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/96/html/Cluster_Administration/ch-before-config-CA.html#s1-clust-config-considerations-CAen this is build and posted on Brew I'll update the status, although I doubt there will be time to QA this one sentence.

When this is built I'll change the status of this bug.

Comment 5 Steven J. Levine 2011-05-18 22:01:50 UTC
I'm reassigning this to me and moving it to 6.2, since I couldn't get a quick verification that it's still applicable.

Comment 6 Perry Myers 2011-05-18 23:33:05 UTC
Sorry for the slight delay. This is still applicable, so yes, if you can get this in for 6.1 it would be good.

Comment 7 Steven J. Levine 2011-05-18 23:42:22 UTC
Perry: Well, I did put you in an absurd "I must have this info NOW" position. I think I can get this in tonight -- it's an 8am tomorrow 6.1 deadline. I'll leave this bug as 6.2, since I've already sent that process moving, but if this makes the final release I'll just close the bug.

Comment 8 Perry Myers 2011-05-19 00:08:23 UTC
Works for me, thanks!

Comment 9 Steven J. Levine 2011-05-20 17:10:01 UTC
The statement about single-site clusters is now in the version of Cluster Administration that is posted to the public redhat.com site so I am closing this bug.
