Description Mike Williams 2010-09-02 19:34:38 UTC
Created attachment 442712 [details]
list of packages installed after "yum install erlang-doc"

Description of problem:

With no other erlang packages on system, installation of erlang-doc also installs 58 other erlang packages.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

erlang-doc.noarch R13B-04.12.fc13
on Linux - kernel-PAE.i686 2.6.33.8-149.fc13

How reproducible:

yum install erlang-doc

Steps to Reproduce:
1. note - this happens on a system with no erlang packages installed
2. yum install erlang-doc
3.

Actual results:

59 packages installed

Expected results:

one package installed

Additional info:

rpm -q --filesbypkg erlang-doc shows that all of the files are in
/usr/share/doc

This bug is a mirror image of Bug 618245. That bug is a request to be able to build without docs (to reduce build time).

It should be possible to just install the single documentation package without installing 58 other packages. Both for someone who is just curious and wants to browse the docs as well as for developers who might like to have a copy of the documentation on a system that is not used for development, separating erlang-doc from the rest would be an improvement.
