RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

crash report screenshot

Description of problem:
When open kwrite in mr_IN(marathi) Desktop, on RHEL6-Snapshot-13 its getting crashed when click on menu item : Settings --> Configure Editor. But it is not reproducing with every attempt made seems to be random. I tried to reproduce it 4-5 times but it reproduced only 2-3 times. But not very hard to reproduce as per the ratio experienced.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kdebase-4.3.4-4.el6.x86_64
kdebase-workspace-wallpapers-4.3.4-19.el6.noarch
kdebase-runtime-4.3.4-9.el6.x86_64
kdebase-runtime-libs-4.3.4-9.el6.x86_64
kdebase-workspace-libs-4.3.4-19.el6.x86_64
kdebase-libs-4.3.4-4.el6.x86_64
kdebase-workspace-4.3.4-19.el6.x86_64

OS : RHEL6-Workstation-Snapshot-13
Arch : x86_64

How reproducible:
Randomly

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL6 with snapshot-13 Workstation URL including KDE Desktop in
   marathi language (mr_IN)
2. Open kwrite (application should open in marathi interface by default)
3. Go to menu and Click on : Settings --> Configure Editor menu item.
4. Observe the result and crash.
5. If not reproduced in first shot, keep trying some more times.

Actual results:
Application getting crashed.

Expected results:
Appliation should not crash at any point of time.

Additional info:
One screenshot attached to show the crash report generated by automatic bug reporting tool, although localized.

could you please attach the backtrace if the crash? Does it crash with other language en_US?

thanks

Comment 3 A S Alam 2010-09-08 10:08:34 UTC

Comment 6 Than Ngo 2011-12-12 13:20:49 UTC
I tried several times to reproduce the crash with above steps with LANG=hi_IN and mr_IN but it did not crash on my test machine with rhel-6.2 release.

Comment 7 Than Ngo 2013-02-12 12:20:41 UTC
can you still reproduce the crash in latest rhel6.3?

thanks

Comment 8 Than Ngo 2013-05-21 08:55:59 UTC
I'm closing that bugzilla INSUFFICIENT_DATA because there's no testcase to reproduce this issue. Feel free to reopen it once you find some way how to reproduce it.
