Description of problem:

If the wrong password is supplied on the login for the given user name, then when the correct password is supplied right after, the screen stays blank and the KDE desktop does not come up.  The only solution is to log on through another terminal and kill kdm, which will then produce the login screen again.

Enter wrong password on login screen for given user name, then enter correct one.
