Description Daniel Rindt 2010-10-15 09:18:15 UTC
Description of problem:
xchat is connection and immediately joining to the selected channels before the NickServ authentication is finnished.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
XChat-GNOME 0.26.1

How reproducible:
Configure in your Networks under Freenode.net the #fedora channel. Provide your registered username and password for NickServ.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. after providing this information mentioned above start xchat
2. xchat is starting connecting to network Freenode.net
3. xchat join #fedora, but at this time it is not authenticated, so you will end up in #fedora-unregistered

Actual results:
It's not avoidable here to end up in #fedora-unregistered

Expected results:
this should be clear what's expected, the presence in #fedora

Additional info:
my configuration for xchat was copied from older versions where i also use xchat. This misbehavior was not in prior versions. Also a clean sysaccount had same behavior.

Comment 1 Daniel Rindt 2010-10-22 14:22:52 UTC
after searching for a while i found a solution, because this "problem" may occur only with low bandwith connections.

The solution is to modifiy the "irc_join_delay" variable in this way:
"/set irc_join_delay 5"

Sorry for filing as a bug.
