Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 646208
eclipse-jdt: Run As JUnit Test always fails with NPE, UNLESS eclipse-pde is installed
Last modified: 2014-07-25 01:53:47 EDT
Description of problem:
Run As JUnit Test always fails with NPE, UNLESS eclipse-pde is installed.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
eclipse-jdt.x86_64 - 1:3.5.2-2.fc13
How reproducible: Totally
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install eclipse-jdt
2. Create any trivial unit test
3. Add suitable junit to Build Path
4. Right click on unit test class and "Run As JUnit Test"
5. Observe dialog saying ... NPE
6. yum install eclipse-pde
7. Observe problem has vanished.
8. yum erase eclipse-pde
9. Surprisingly, the problem does NOT re-appear. Thats odd.
Actual results: see above
Expected results: see above
Initially I was using junit-4.8.2.jar from github. I then tried /usr/share/java/junit4-4.6.jar with the same results.
Installing eclipse-pde seems to fix the problem. To make it reappear, you must uninstall all of the eclipse components, then install eclipse-jdt.
By the way -- I was certainly not clever enough to figure out the weird work-around. I saw it referred to in the following http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=240886
I did search the last 5 months of user and devel mail archives, as well as this bugzilla, but found no hits for eclipse and junit.
