Description of problem: Entering the correct password (asked by /usr/libexec/gnome-screensaver-dialog) fails to unlock; the dialog appears to accept the password, displaying a modal dialog with a grayed out "Cancel" button. After a while (longer than when entering an incorrect password), it times out and restarts the screensaver. Only way around it is to log in a console and kill gnome-screensaver. Downgrading (yum downgrade gnome-screensaver) fixes the problem. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-screensaver.i386 2.16.1-8.el5_5.1 (affected) gnome-screensaver.i386 2.16.1-8.el5 (works) How reproducible: Every time. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade to gnome-screensaver.i386 2.16.1-8.el5_5.1 2. Log into Gnome 3. Activate lock screen 4. Enter password Actual results: Correct password fails to unlock screen Expected results: Unlock screen Additional info: Using LDAP through PAM Nothing whatsoever appears in any log (including nscd log with debugging enabled) Tcpdump does not show anything.
I'm seeing this as well, and can add a little more detail. I only see gnome-screensaver not unlock when the user is given a warning that they have XX number of days to before they will be required to change their password. Things work correctly otherwise, for us.
