Description Juan 2010-11-28 18:35:16 UTC
Description of problem:
The kernel doesn't assign the synaptics driver to the touchpad and uses the generic ps/2 mouse driver instead.

This happens randomly (I guess it depends on the order the kernel discovers the USB devices).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

2.6.35.6-48.fc14

This problem doesn't exist in 2.6.35.4-28.fc14.

How reproducible:

Randomly, sometimes after a couple of reboots the touchpad is detected properly:

This is a Dell Inspiron 15R.

Comment 1 Josh Boyer 2011-09-21 17:43:37 UTC
Does this still happen with an updated f14/f15 kernel?

Comment 2 Juan 2011-09-21 17:50:53 UTC
Running 2.6.35.14-96.fc14.x86_64 and it works perfect right now.

But the problem is random, so I need more time to be completely sure :)

Comment 3 Josh Boyer 2011-09-21 19:59:01 UTC
Let's close the bug out for now, and if you see this issue again we can reopen it.

Comment 4 Juan 2011-09-27 20:23:50 UTC
I'm afraid it's not fixed. I'm experiencing the problem ATM with kernel 2.6.35.14-96.fc14.x86_64.

Comment 5 Juan 2011-10-16 06:47:41 UTC
The problem persists with 2.6.35.14-97.fc14.x86_64, but I've found that after suspend... it works properly.
