Yes, this particular server is CentOS. Yes, I have a RH subscription, and can try to reproduce this with RH binaries upon request. Yes, I am mildly irritated.
First analysis. After minimal install and system-config-bind install, Run cp -p /usr/share/doc/bind-9.3.6/sample/var/named/named.root /var/named/ First run of system-config-bind still exits uselessly. Second run looks promising.
