Description of problem: On The Red Hat Network Quick Start Guide page [1] there should be RHEL6 mentioned in the list of releases where rhn_register should be used. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Red Hat Network release 5.2.6 Steps to Reproduce: https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/help/quickstart.jsp Actual results: - At the command line, on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 machine, run rhn_register as root. - At the command line, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 or 4, run up2date --register as root. Expected results: - At the command line, on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 or 6 machine, run rhn_register as root. - At the command line, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 or 4, run up2date --register as root.
As you may already be aware, Red Hat is transitioning from the Red Hat Network (RHN) hosted interface to the Red Hat Subscription Management (RHSM) interface in July 2017. Red Hat has invested in and seen success from RHN for many years, and used that experience to build more robust technologies like RHSM.
