Description of problem: Configured and working local USB printer will only print if it is turned on before booting. Logging out and back in is not enough. If I turn on the printer after booting and try to print, printing will only start after rebooting. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): cups-1.4.6-2.fc15 How reproducible: Everytime Steps to Reproduce: 1.Turn on local USB printer after booting. 2.Try to print. 3.Status stays at "Processing" and printing only starts after rebooting. Actual results: Local USB printer not detected after boot. Rawhide recently stopped detecting my printer after boot. Expected results: Local USB printer detected anytime. Additional info:
Please attach an output from printing troubleshooter when you try to print before rebooting. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Printing/Debugging#Printing_troubleshooter Can you also try some older cups version, like 1.4.6-1.fc15 or 1.4.5-10.fc15 ? https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=54 Thanks.

I tried cups 1.4.5-10.fc15 but still had the same problem. The troubleshooter had me log in as root, and the printing went fine. Once I did "lsusb -v" as root, printing worked again. Sorry for the trouble, but this bug is likely related to my other USB problem about having to log in as root and "lsusb -v" before all USB is found. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=664280
Marking this one as dependent on bug #664280.
USB printer now works fine
Great, thanks for reporting back.
