Created attachment 474752 [details] g3data spec file Description of problem: There currently is a package for g3data at version 1.5.3, while there is an upstream release to version 1.5.4. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.5.3 Additional info: Upstream development is at https://github.com/pn2200/g3data/ and the version 1.5.4 release is at https://github.com/downloads/pn2200/g3data/g3data-1.5.4.tar.gz I have also attached an update spec file.
Uhm... are you sure that is main upstream development now? I've been pulling from http://www.frantz.fi/software/g3data.php and there's no notice there of mainline development moving to github or of a new release. Is this a blessed fork or change of hands? I'll need to confirm. Assuming I get the clarification I need on that score and this is the new mainline development.... Anything specific in the .4 release that would warrant an update? There's nothing in the github I'll certainly bump it for rawhide as soon as I get home in a couple of days. But before I consider pushing this as an update I'd like to know if it actually fixes any bugs of merit. There's precious little in the github tree. Honestly it looks like its just its being retooled and clean-up as part of a developer change of hands. -jef
So yeah... I can't actually confirm that the github location that you just pointed to is a valid upstream project home and just a fork. Freshmeat still points to the the URL i gave in the last comment as the project home page and there's no indication that development has been handed over to a new lead. So uhm Paul what gives? You aren't the developer I talked to previously when I sent in a patch in April 2010 and you aren't the developer listed on the main project page that is listed as the homepage on Freshmeat.net's listing for g3data. -jef
Paul asked me to post a comment here, I've given maintainership of g3data over to Paul. I've added a link to my g3data homepage to github, I'll leave my pages up for reference.
Jonas, great, that's all I needed to confirm. I'll put the .4 release into rawhide as soon as I can..prob next weekend. One more suggestion you might want to get the freshmeat.net listing for g3data updated to point to an updated home project location. -jef
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
As of Fedora 23, g3data is still at version 1.5.3. From what I see at github, the main difference between versions 1.5.3 and 1.5.4 seems to be the conversion to using GNU autotools instead of using a custom make file; please reopen.
