Description Omri Hochman 2011-01-27 11:16:33 UTC
LVM: Run-Time Regression for LVM commands in RHEL5.6.

Two hosts working in the same environment, against same storage machine, but with different lvm version. the host with the newer LVM version (lvm2-2.02.74-5.el5) provide slower Run-time results for lvm commands ('pvs'.

- Attached log file 'pvs -vvvv' output.

'time pvs' using - lvm2-2.02.56-8.el5_5.6:
******************************************
real 0m1.137s
user 0m0.050s
sys 0m0.168s

'time pvs' using - lvm2-2.02.74-5.el5:
***************************************
real 0m9.409s
user 0m0.442s
sys 0m1.175s

Note:
*******
- hosts connected to 56 devices on NEXENTA storage
(multipath -ll | grep NEXENTA| wc -l = 56) .
- This issue causes hosts with lvm2-2.02.74-5.el5 to fail on timeout on VDSM 'connectStoragePool' (RHEVM)

Comment 4 Omri Hochman 2011-01-27 12:46:57 UTC
After downgraded to 'lvm2-2.02.56-8.el5_5.6', the problematic host commands return much faster:

time pvs:
real 0m1.098s
user 0m0.060s
sys 0m0.120s

Comment 9 Milan Broz 2011-01-29 00:18:56 UTC
Fixed in lvm2-2.02.74-6.el5.
