Description of problem: downgrading 4.6.0-0.3 to -4.5.1-6 breaks /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 symbolic link Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 4.6.0-0.3 How reproducible: Haven't dared to reproduce this problem Steps to Reproduce: 1. downgrade gcc-4.6.0-0.3.fc15.i686 (and friends) to gcc-4.5.1-6.fc15.i686 (and friends) 2. 3. Actual results: /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 still links to /lib/libgcc_s-4.6.0-20110128.so.1 (ie, is a broken symbolic link) Expected results: /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 links to /lib/libgcc_s-4.5.1-20101130.so.1 Additional info: 0) For some background: I tried to investigate (or work around) some apparent compilation problems, that I suspected to be caused by gcc-4.6.0-0.3.fc15.i686. 1) Downgrading gcc (and friends) here meant downgrading, using rpm --oldpackage: cpp gcc-c++ libstdc++-devel libgfortran libgcj gcc libgomp libstdc++ libgcc and libtool 2) This could just as well be some random, one-off, issue. But since this problem leaves one with a _severely_ broken system, I haven't yet found the courage to check whether this is reproducible. 3) Perhaps this is just a "don't-try-this-at-home" kind of thing to do...
Hi I've had the same problem during a casual downgrade with yum. After having restored the link, updated and downgraded again, the link brokes unavoidably. The system becames really unusable. No init 1.
The bug never makes whole system unusable in a common case it depend on user if he need to downgrade it or not so i am changing severity to High.To debug Systemd problems this may help you https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_Systemd_problems#All_bug_reports -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
(In reply to comment #3) > To debug > Systemd problems this may help you > https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_Systemd_problems#All_bug_reports In what way is this (rather obscure) problem related to systemd?
That is not for you i just added it for luigi votta
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
