Description Stéphane Maniaci 2011-01-30 12:10:28 UTC
I own a HP Probook 5310m, and sometimes the WiFi won't turn on, even after reboots and intense tries on the led-button that is supposed to activate it.

`dmesg | tail` prints this at each press:

[ 41.490550] iwlagn 0000:02:00.0: RF_KILL bit toggled to disable radio.
[ 51.553540] iwlagn 0000:02:00.0: RF_KILL bit toggled to enable radio.
[ 51.939489] iwlagn 0000:02:00.0: RF_KILL bit toggled to disable radio.
[ 52.254023] iwlagn 0000:02:00.0: RF_KILL bit toggled to enable radio.

ifconfig shows only 'lo' as the only network interface available, but rebooting in Windows (sorry:), it works.

I recently found a fix:
modprobe iwlagn

And then everything works fine.

Fedora 14, kernel 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.i686 ;

How reproducible: most of the time, sorry I can't be more precise, but sometimes I can turn the LED on before GRUB screen, and it works afterwise.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot with WiFi off ;
2. Turn it on once in Fedora ;
3.

Actual results:
Nothing happens.

Expected results:
WiFi turns on.

Additional info:
See above.

Please boot with the wireless disabled, then capture the output of 'dmesg' and 'lspci -n'. Afterwards, enable the wireless (i.e. push the button) and capture the output of 'dmesg' and 'lspci -n' again. Post all the output as attachments to this bug.

Comment 2 Stéphane Maniaci 2011-01-31 22:02:33 UTC
I can't reproduce the bug at the moment. For some reasons, now the LED turns on in GDM, and wireless is on. As soon as it happens again (it did before the bug report), I'll post more info here.

I'm closing this for now...
