Description Peter Klotz 2011-02-01 09:07:36 UTC
Description of problem:
I expected to find xorg-x11-server-Xvfb-1.7.7-26.el6.x86_64.rpm on the RHEL6 DVD downloaded from RHN but it is missing. RHN finds nothing when searching for "Xvfb".

Where is Xvfb gone?

Comment 2 RHEL Program Management 2011-02-01 09:28:50 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated
in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to
address this request at this time. Red Hat invites you to
ask your support representative to propose this request, if
appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux. If you would like it considered as an
exception in the current release, please ask your support
representative.

Comment 3 Peter Klotz 2011-02-01 09:45:44 UTC
Xvfb was part of the RHEL6 beta that shipped last year.

Googling around a bit reveals that the package xorg-x11-server-Xvfb-1.7.7-26.el6.x86_64.rpm exists and was officially built by Red Hat.

It seems to me that it was simply forgotten on the DVD.

Could you clarify this issue please?

As a paying customer I do not like prepared statements like those in Comment #2. I prefer someone actually looking at the problem I am reporting.

Comment 4 Matěj Cepl 2011-02-01 12:53:01 UTC
For official Red Hat Enterprise Linux support, please log into the Red Hat support website at https://access.redhat.com/home and file a support ticket.

Also, package xorg-x11-server-Xvfb is not on the DVD, because it is now in the Optional packages.

Comment 5 Peter Klotz 2011-02-01 14:03:38 UTC
Thanks a lot.

Exactly that kind of reply and explanation I had hoped for.

Regards, Peter.

Comment 6 RHEL Program Management 2011-02-01 19:13:22 UTC
This request was erroneously denied for the current release of
Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The error has been fixed and this
request has been re-proposed for the current release.

Comment 7 Ludek Smid 2011-02-25 09:54:15 UTC
Closing this request. See comment #4 and comment #5 for justification.
