Description of problem: When trying to create hvm guest with cdrom device without specified media, creation fail with "Block device must have physical details specified.". This happens only when xm create is used, with virsh start/virt-manager guest is created successfully. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xen-3.0.3-122.el5 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. use disk = [ "...", ",hdc:cdrom,r" ] configuration 2. use xm create to start guest 3. use virsh start to start guest Actual results: Step 2. fail Expected results: Step 2. succeed Additional info: This problem is caused by patch for bz 658712 - Add syntax check for block device. Device uname is "" instead of None so incorrect path is used and error invoked.
Reproduced on xen-3.0.3-122.el5 and verified on xen-3.0.3-123.el5 Steps 1. use disk = [ "...", ",hdc:cdrom,r" ] configuration 2. use xm create to start guest 3. use VNC to monitor the booting guest on xen-3.0.3-122.el5: Step 2. fail on xen-3.0.3-123.el5 Step 2. succeed Setp 3. the guest boot succeed. So change the Status to verified.
Plus, also verified on xen-3.0.3-126.el5.
