Description Stanislaw Gruszka 2011-02-04 10:41:43 UTC
Description of problem:

Download speed on firefox is N times slower than speed of wget.

In particular, downloading this file
http://download.englab.brq.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/releases/14/Live/x86_64/Fedora-14-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso
in brno office give me results:

Wired connection:
wget: 14 seconds
firefox: 34 minutes

Wireless connection:
wget: 2 minutes 34 seconds
firefox 53 minutes (estimated)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
firefox-3.6.13-2.el6_0.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to download iso image or other data through firefox.

Actual results:
Very slow download

Expected results:
Normal download speed.

Additional info:
I have the same problem on firefox from RHEL6.0, it persist after update.

Comment 2 Matěj Cepl 2011-02-14 23:51:18 UTC
Could you please check carefully that you have the same networking configuration for both cases (i.e., no proxy servers set up), please? Is there something extreme visible in top(1)? Could we get strace of firefox in a BRIEF session when it tries to download the iso?

Thank you

Comment 3 Stanislaw Gruszka 2011-02-15 08:06:17 UTC
Proxy setting, I had "Manual proxy configuration" to squid.redhat.com. Removing that helps with download.

Sorry for bothering.
