Description Gary Baribault 2011-02-10 15:04:24 UTC
Description of problem:

I have tried installing Fedora 14 in french with the KDE option instead of Gnome, and selected the French Canadian keyboard. I included all updates and the keyboard does not work in the graphical interface. If I select a console session with the mouse, the keyboard works. The keyboard also works in Init 3. If I install Gnome, the keyboard works. The keyboard and mouse are both USB, and the mouse works.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
This is an x86_64 install on an AMB cpu with the NVidea MCP61 rev a3 USB controller. It was installed from the DVD ISO.

How reproducible:

Tried it three times and it reacted the same, I also downloaded Fedora 13 with the same result.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the x86_64 DVD and begin the install
2. Select French language and French Canadian keyboard
3. Select KDE rather than Gnome. Complete the install (I tried graphical desktop and Development workstation, both produced the result)

Actual results:
The keyboard does not work in the graphical environment, selecting a console session with the mouse gives a functioning keyboard until you exit back to the Graphical environment.

Expected results:

I expected a functioning keyboard ;-)

Yeah .. that cpu is a new brand !!! (it should be AMD) and the chipset is real good for the hands (it should be Nvidia) Sorry about that

Comment 2 Josh Boyer 2011-08-29 18:55:28 UTC
If it works in Gnome, on a console, and with init 3, then it doesn't sound like a kernel problem. Perhaps someone from the KDE camp might know why this is broken.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 16:25:15 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
