Description of problem:

I am updating patches in a Red Hat Linux 4.8, server. I happen to com upon the below mentioned error once I execute the command "up2date -l".

ERROR MESSAGE STARTS HERE

[root@bg2803l ~]# up2date -l

Error Message:
    Please run rhn_register (or up2date --register on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3                                                                              or later)
as root on this client
Error Class Code: 9
Error Class Info: Invalid System Credentials.
Explanation:
     An error has occurred while processing your request. If this problem
     persists please enter a bug report at bugzilla.redhat.com.
     If you choose to submit the bug report, please be sure to include

[root@bg2803l ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release

[root@bg2803l ~]# uname -a

[root@bg2803l ~]# uptime

As the error message state: you must first register to rhn.redhat.com using command:
up2date --register
and use login and password, which you obtained when you buy Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription.
