I investigated this later. Backtrace with all debug symbols pointed to ffmpeg library from rpmfusion-free. I removed it (ffmpeg-libs) and tried again; rhythmbox complained about missing codecs and downoaded+installed ffmpeg-libs along with gstreamer-plugins-ugly and two others which I didn't have before. This solved the problem.
