Description of problem: When docked, closing laptop lid should only turn off internal monitor and enable Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-power-manager-2.28.3-5.el6.x86_64 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. attach laptop to dock 2. make sure external monitor is attached and turned on 3. close laptop lid Actual results: laptop suspends to ram Expected results: laptop should just turn off embedded monitor and move desktop and windows to external monitor Additional info: possibly related to bug #591935
Since RHEL 6.1 External Beta has begun, and this bug remains unresolved, it has been rejected as it is not proposed as exception or blocker. Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Upstream, we've added a feature to upower to detect if the laptop is docked using the kernel drm drivers. Using this we stop gnome-power-manager from suspending on lid close if docked. I'm not sure how much work it would be to backport tho.
