Description tom georgoulias 2002-07-01 21:29:04 EDT
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020618

Description of problem:
Would like for evolution to use an existing tabbed browser window, or start a
new browser tab in a running browser process, when clicking on a URL embedded in
an email message. This mostly pertains to the behavior between evolution and
mozilla.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.0.3-6

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Mozilla
2. Start Evolution
3. Click on a URL in an email message inside of Evolution. A new Mozilla
process is started and a new browser window pops up with the URL from Evolution.

Actual Results: A new Mozilla process is started and a new browser window pops
up with the URL from Evolution. Now two Mozilla processes are running and two
browser windows are open.

Expected Results: Evolution should've triggered a new tabbed browser window in
the currently running Mozilla process and avoided starting a brand new mozilla
process.

Additional info: I am using Mozilla 1.0.0-9, which I compiled from a SRPM I
downloaded from mozilla.org.

This would require changes to the mozilla remote functionality to allow opening
of new tabs as well as changes to the gnome-moz-remote helper used by GNOME
programs including evolution. I'd recommend filing an RFE at
bugzilla.mozilla.org to get the first and then the rest should be able to
trickle down.
