Description jeff.kilpatrick 2011-02-16 18:50:06 UTC
Description of problem: HP NC522/524 NIC card in HP DL585G7 server. Version 4.0.539-3 HP driver. The NIC driver appears to build under the real time kernel; yet does not appear in the kernel drivers path (this works fine under a non real time kernel)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
red hat 2.6.24.7-169.el5rt

How reproducible:
Prereqs: server with HP NC522/524 installed

Build HP driver per steps in hp-nx_nic-4.0.539-3.src.txt

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=3709945&prodSeriesId=4268682&prodNameId=4268597&swEnvOID=4095&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-a159f020681d435d820a0897df

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build driver as outlined above
2. reboot server
3. Note that NIC driver is not loaded by doing the following command "lsmod | grep nic"
4. search for driver shows no results

Actual results:

driver does not load

Expected results:

driver loads and associated ethx devices are active

Additional info:
tried earlier release of HP driver (4.0.534) too with same results. works fine under 2.6.18-92.el5 kernel

pretty sure we've fixed this issue with the latest RT kernel revs for RHEL5 (2.6.33 based). Can you try the latest errata kernel for MRG 1.3?

Comment 2 Beth Uptagrafft 2014-09-25 20:00:14 UTC
This issue has not been updated in a while and is against an older, unsupported kernel. This BZ is being closed WONTFIX. If you believe this is still an issue on our most recent MRG-2.5 3.10 Realtime kernel, please file a new issue for further investigation.
