gtick uses /dev/dsp only. However the ALSA compatibility module for OSS is not loaded by default, and if loaded, the device has not the required permissions. There are to possibilities: 1. Always prefix gtick with aoss from alsa-oss 2. Always prefix gtick with padsp from pulseaudio-utils I think the first option is to be preferred, since it works whether pulseaudio is running or not, and, for me at least, the pulseaudio solution often fails.
It is ridiculous that this package is in the main repository and it doesn't work at all after installed.
For me solution "aoss gtick" is working, "padsp gtick" is only working for a short time (~30s). Nevertheless please make gtick use ALSA or Pulseaudio device. Also working correctly after being installed would be fine. For me it seems to be the only metronome in the fedora repository (?) So please do not remove it. I use F15 plus all updates. Thank you
