Description Mitch Davis 2011-02-22 05:58:44 UTC
I am trying to use bugzilla from Fedora RPMs on F13. I have found two bugs that the Bugzilla guys say have been fixed in 4.0, which was released last week. In particular:

 - it's not possible to use Bugzilla via an IPv6 address
 - if there's a mail problem, it's impossible for anyone to log in, including the admin

Please consider bumping the version of bugzilla shipped with Fedora from 3.4.6 to 4.0.

From #mozdevtools on irc.mozilla.org (I am CapnKernel):

(04:00:42 PM) CapnKernel: Hello. I have an install of Bugzilla on my Fedora 13 box, installed from rpms. Bugzilla is working very nicely if the hostname is localhost, but I get an error message if I use the DNS name or IP address of my machine. http://pastebin.com/JFbRbTHd
(04:00:45 PM) CapnKernel: Is it a Bugzilla issue or an Apache issue?
(04:02:47 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: IPv6. What version of Bugzilla are you using?
(04:07:14 PM) CapnKernel: mkanat: bugzilla 3.4.10.
(04:07:25 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: Ah, I think we fixed that problem in a later version.
(04:07:55 PM) CapnKernel: Any workarounds?
(04:08:05 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: Don't access Bugzilla via IPv6.
(04:08:17 PM) CapnKernel: Same happens when I use my IPv4 number.
(04:08:53 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: It shouldn't....
(04:09:04 PM) CapnKernel: I will do some more checking.
(04:09:08 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: Okay.
(04:10:18 PM) CapnKernel: I will set my urlbase to have the IPv4 address...
(04:11:04 PM) CapnKernel: That seems to work ok.

From #mozdevtools on irc.mozilla.org (I am CapnKernel):

(04:38:53 PM) CapnKernel: Grr, the SMTP server doesn't like MAIL FROM:<> containing my IP address. But now, every time I try to log in, I get a red banner saying problems sending email, and I'm not logged in.
(04:39:13 PM) CapnKernel: So I can't use the web interface to fix the problem :-(
(04:42:13 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: data/params --> mailfrom
(04:42:32 PM) CapnKernel: mkanat: Sorry?
(04:42:37 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: Edit data/params.
(04:42:48 PM) mkanat: CapnKernel: Also, the bug you're experiencing is also fixed in a later version of Bugzilla.

This isn't possible. Bugzilla 4.0 depends on Email::MIME 1.904+ and this exists only in the F15 branch and rawhide.

Please read carefully.

The version of Bugzilla in F15 and rawhide is still 3.4.6. Please consider bumping the version of bugzilla shipped with Fedora 15 and rawhide from 3.4.6 to 4.0.

I understand you don't want to support obsolete versions of Fedora. No problem. But you're shipping obsolete versions of Bugzilla in the current Fedora. I can't get help from the Bugzilla people unless it's 4.0.

Ah, now, I get it.
The version of Bugzilla in F15/Rawhide is 3.6.4, not 3.4.6 .
We haven't shipped the 3.4 branch since F13.

Bugzilla 4.0 will hit Rawhide soon. F15 will probably keep 3.6.x given that we've passed Feature Freeze.
