Description of problem: Owen and team, I was running through the TC2 Alpha Live CD with someone yesterday and they were concerned about usability with regard to multiple virtual desktops. At the moment, you have to move the mouse to the top-left corner to enter the overlay but then you have to move the mouse all the way back down to the bottom of the screen to move from virtual desktop to virtual desktop. The feeling was that this is awkward and navigation needs to be improved in this regard. Also, they also found it limiting that there is no way to "zoom out" and see which applications are running in all desktops simultaneously. (I am aware that you could do this in the early builds of GNOME Shell included in the Fed 13 and Fed 14 repos but this ability seems to have been removed.) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): FC15 TC2 Alpha Live CD. How reproducible: Every time. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log into the GNOME Shell. 2. Go into overlay and add some virtual desktops by clicking the "Plus" sign in the right-hand side pop up. 3. Go out of overlay and do some regular work in the system for a while. 4. Now, go into the overlay with the intention of navigating to another virtual desktop. Actual results: Ignoring the "Windows/Super" key shortcut for the moment, the user has to move the mouse to the top left to enter the overlay. (The person I was showing was fine with this as it met Fitt's Law.) However, you then have to move the mouse right back down and click on one of the small targets to enter another of your virtual desktops. Expected results: Less mouse movement between entering overlay and moving to another desktop. Also, a return of being able to zoom out and see all desktops with thumbnails of running apps, as per earlier builds of GNOME Shell. Additional info: Realise it is early days and that usability will improve over time. Just wanted to pass on those comments. Keep up the great work.
Workspace handling will be completely different in 2.91.90 (hitting rawhide tomorrow if I manage it), and hopefully better - workspaces are done with large live thumbnails that slide out from the right side of the activities overview.
