Description of problem: The login & password prompt is always using US keyboard layout I am using a Danish Keyboard layout in gnome3 and is working fine, when you have logged in. I use a "&" in my password and it is located at Shift + 6 on the danish layout but it is located at Shift + 7 on the US layout. On danish keyboard the '&' is printed on the '6' key. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gdm-2.91.6-9.fc15.x86_64 How reproducible: Every Time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot into Fedora 15 Alpha RC1 + Updates 2. Select User and enter password with '&' (Shift + 6) Actual results: Authorization failure Expected results: Login ok Additional info: If i use (Shift + 7) for '&' in the password, then I can login.
This seem to be the same (or closely related) bug as: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=678768 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680449 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=568936 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=623570 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=629663 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=646460 Is anyone actually working on GDM and these bugs in Fedora? As many points out this has ocured in almost every release lately?! I really think the majority of users are NOT using a US keyboard and many of use keys that require a keyboard mapping that is NOT US. At least; merge these bugs and provide some feedback!
This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.
Since this package now has changed ownership, can someone at least reply to my comment.... Since it got posted, several of the bugs mentioned got closed since earlier versions of Fedora ha reached EOL, but it would be really nice if this bug was actually fixed, since it seems to be present in every release....
I have to confirm this bug. Using de_DE keyboard layout and language, but gdm uses en_US. I recognized this with a password with letter "Z".
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
